The Pioneer 30-60 was built between 1910 and 1927.  It measures 11 feet tall, 12' wide, and 26 feet long.  It weighs 26,000 lbs. It has 1,232-cubic-inch four-cylinder motor. With its 5' tall front wheels and 8' rear wheels, it was dubbed the "Monster of the Prairie".  Pioneers were built in Winona, MN. 

This particular tractor was brought in by rail and assembled in the rail yard. 

Purchased at the 1910 SD State Fair by the Knox Family of Alpena, SD.  It farmed the prairie until the early 1920's.

One of my favorite stories of this tractor is that it made a two-day journey from Alpena to Highmore, South Dakota.  They pulled a string of planting equipment including a plow, sod buster, drill, and two flare boxes.  The two brothers took turns driving and spent a night under the stars in their journey to help out a family member.

In the early 1980s the King family purchased the tractor and began the restoration process.

There are roughly 15 of the 30-60 tractors in existence today.  Only a handful of them run.  This one is a running tractor.
