SD State Fair Park Seeks Program Assistant

The SD State Fair is seeking a motivated individual to join our professional team whose primary responsibilities will include general accounting duties and fiscal management, hiring of seasonal personnel, general office duties, and assisting with some non-fair time activities.  Duties include accounts payable and receivables, ensuring proper payments of noncash vouchers, issuing invoices, issuing vouchers, procurement purchases, preparing monthly sales tax, maintain account balances, reconciliation of bank statements, balance credit card and ticketing programs, issue judge’s contracts, disbursement of funds for general operations of State Fair and overall general fiscal management.

Salary range: $19.67 - $21.07 depending on experience. The state of South Dakota offers a generous health benefits package, which includes health, vision, and dental insurance, ten paid holidays, vacation, sick, and paid family leave, in addition to one of the top retirement systems in the nation.

Beverage Operations Superintendent

Manage and oversee the Beer Garden, Midway Roadhouse, and Grandstand alcohol beverage operations during the South Dakota State Fair as well as overseeing alcoholic beverage operations for non-fair time events ensuring adequate sales staff, proper handling and accounting of money, safety and security protocols and laws are abided by, and promote a positive customer experience. Head Gardener
Do you have a passion for gardening, vibrant flowers, and beautiful landscaping?  Join the SD State Fair team as the head gardener.  Responsibilities include numerous gardening duties, general maintenance and care of flower beds and planters including soil cultivation, bed preparation, planting, weeding, pruning, and watering.  Must have general knowledge of gardening and physically capable of bending, lifting, and working in spring and summer weather conditions.  Seasonal employment starting mid-April and running through September. $12.32/hour with approximately 25 hours a week (generally 7am-12pm, but flexible).  To apply, complete application and return it to the State Fair office, stop by State Fair Office or for questions, call 605-353-7340.

Gardener Attendant
The SD State Fair is seeking an individual to assist with prepping flower beds and overall care of flower beds including planting, weeding, and watering. $10.24/hour; hours will be 7am-12pm, with occasional extended hours. Start early May through August, with some flexibility on start and end date. Crew Leader - Seasonal
Be a part of a time-honored tradition and be instrumental in the success of the annual State Fair.  The SD State Fair is hiring a crew leader for May-November.  Will supervise and work with inmates doing building and ground maintenance.  Must have a valid driver’s license.  Duties include general maintenance of all types.  Background check conducted.  Will be trained.
