Building Maintenance Specialist (Full Time)
The SD State Fair is seeking a skilled individual for a full-time Building Maintenance Specialist position. Knowledge of the methods and practices of general building and facility maintenance is ideal. Applicants are required to have received technical training in one of the following areas: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or heating and air conditioning. Candidate must have good communication skills, complete tasks promptly, can lift 50 lbs or more, and successfully direct the activities of others. A valid driver's license is required. Work occasional evenings and weekends and extended work hours pre-State Fair, during, and post-State Fair will be expected. Rate of pay will range from $25.99 to $30.93 depending on skills and experience. Excellent benefits package:

Vendor Coordinator Position (Full Time)
The SD State Fair is seeking a full-time Vendor and Special Events Coordinator. The Vendor Coordinator is responsible for the administrative functions to secure, support, coordinate, monitor, and execute vendor procurement for the South Dakota State Fair and non-fair events managed by the State Fair. Assists in securing sponsorships, planning and implementing special events, and is responsible for maintaining the State Fair Foundation donor database including tracking donations, issuing invoices, written correspondence, and maintaining financial records through QuickBooks. The position is primarily 8 AM-5 PM. Work occasional evenings, weekends and extended work hours for some special events, pre-State Fair and during will be expected. Rate of pay will range from $23.82 to $28.36 depending on skills and experience. Excellent benefits package:

Camping Superintendent Wanted for SD State Fair (Seasonal)
Seasonal position; a couple of weeks in June and July and most of August through State Fair. Responsible for measuring and marking of campsites and parking spaces; assist with parking of campers, and collection of camping fees. Must be physically capable of bending, walking at length and working in summer weather conditions. Job shadow for the 2024 State Fair starting ASAP. $15.75/hr.

State Fair Hiring Seasonal Maintenance Worker 
The SD State Fair is seeking a seasonal Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of routine building and grounds maintenance projects including general maintenance, custodial duties, and set-up and tear-down of events. This position is from May through October generally Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm but does require some weekends with extended work hours before, during, and after the annual State Fair. $14 per hour. Cattle Crossing Guard Wanted
The SD State Fair is looking for an individual to serve as a Cattle Crossing Guard for the 2024 SD State Fair. Duties include stopping vehicle traffic to allow cattle and exhibitors to cross the street safely during designated times when going to and from the DEX to outside cattle ties.  The cattle crossing guard must be familiar and comfortable being around cattle. Hours are 5 AM – 9 AM and 5 PM – 9 PM starting Monday, August 26 through Monday, September 2, until 9 AM. $11.81 per hour.

Positions are open in the following areas: Maintenance, gate admission, beer garden, tap haus, wine pavilion, trolley, grandstand, security, and cattle crossing guard. Hours vary, pay rate varies.
