Horizons Hall
Horizons Hall, formerly known as the Women's Building, reflects the expansive range of activities taking place within its walls. It is a versatile space that hosts a wide array of events including weddings, celebrations, and craft shows. During the annual State Fair, it is a place for South Dakotans to showcase their creative talents through culinary, needlework, crafts, and more during the fair.
Besides all of the static exhibits and vendors that call the Horizons Hall home during the State Fair, a full-sized kitchen and auditorium are also located in the building!
BERT STINER DOMESTIC ENGINEER AWARD:
The Domestic Engineer Award has been renamed the Bert Stiner Domestic Engineer Award in memory of Bert Stiner. Bert's family wanted to do something in honor of their wife and mother at the South Dakota State Fair, Women's Building (now known as Horizons Hall). This award depicts the many, many years of her participation in the Women's Building (now known as Horizons Hall) as well as many community service organizations, church, and many other activities.
This award is the highest award one can receive as an exhibitor in the Horizons Hall. The Stiner Family is sponsoring this award and will continue to do so for many years to come. They have donated a perpetual plaque for this award that will list each year's winner by name. You will be able to see this plaque as you enter the Horizons Hall on the east wall.
