Thursday, August 28: Value Added Agriculture Day
Value Added Agriculture Day, “Agriculture – Energizing South Dakota” will be exciting and informational as fairgoers experience value added agriculture in South Dakota.  Make a trip to the Value Added Agriculture Specialty Tent to learn about various forms of renewable energy generated in South Dakota and energy efficiency opportunities; view displays on ethanol, biodiesel and energy conservation; become involved and win a door prize by participating in the value added agriculture scavenger hunt.   Go shopping and discover the many products showcased by South Dakota agribusinesses in the Dakota Flavor Marketplace.  Bring the whole family to Value Added Agriculture Day and see the many ways value added agriculture energizes South Dakota.
  
     


Friday, August 29: Prostrollo Motors Day and AARP Day




Stop by the Prostrollo Motors Building to see the newest GM vehicles on display.  Always a hit, GM “concept vehicles” will also be on display.  In addition, there will be hourly door prize drawings and special prizes for winners in our Bean Bag Toss.  Stop by for free ice water, too!


Join AARP South Dakota in the sponsor's tent for a complimentary piece of cake from 11:00 AM to 3 PM on Friday as we celebrate AARP's 50th anniversary. At noon enjoy a free lunch while listening to "Schemes and Scams: Protecting Your Nest Egg," a presentation by Kim Ruckdaschel-Haley and Jon Harris of the Twin Cities' law firm of Lindquist & Vennum. Kim and Jon will share tips and war stories to help you avoid being a victim of financial fraud, as well as tools for selecting a financial advisor.




Saturday, August 30: SD Farmers Union Day


South Dakota Farmers Union Day at the State Fair celebrates and promotes agriculture and family farming and ranching in the state. Show your support for Farmers Union and you could win a laptop computer. Anyone wearing a Farmers Union shirt, t-shirt or cap is eligible to sign up to win the laptop computer, with the drawing to be held at 2:30 p.m. In addition, the day's events include many activities designed to educate the general public about agriculture. Events planned for the day include; the legislative meet and greet from 8-9 a.m., followed by the Farmers Share Luncheon from 11 a.m. to noon. South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation will present awards and scholarships from 1-2 p.m. Then, join us on the Freedom Stage for our "Ethanol, The American Way to Independence" forum from 2-4 p.m. The day wraps up with the FFA Alumni Reunion/Farmers Union Member Ice Cream Social at 3:30.

It’s a celebration of cultures on Monday at the SD State Fair!  Celebrate with American Bank and Trust and Dakota Provisions, and share your heritage with the rest of the fairgoers by participating in the multi-cultural parade that will go down Flag Avenue, pass by the Freedom Stage and end at the Day Sponsor Tent (participants are encouraged to dress in their native attire).  Throughout the day, enjoy Mariachi Los Mensajeros and the Huron School District’s International Club Dancers on the NorthWestern Energy Freedom Stage, and then take a swing at a Piñata following performances.  Stop by the Day Sponsor Tent to see the many cultures on display, showcasing countries such as China, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Thailand.  The day will also feature an authentic cooking demonstration in the newly remodeled Women’s Building kitchen, and end with a live performance of a local sensation.
