Murals on the Town

Using city building as its canvas, the community of Huron tells its story through colorful murals. Outdoor murals grace the sides of downtown buildings and depict unique aspects of Huron's history. There are over 20 murals with new ones added to the collection annually. Take a tour and perhaps you'll see some "murals in the making." For more information, please call (605) 352-0000.

The Pyle House Museum
The home of Gladys Pyle, the first elected woman US Senator, is a well preserved example of Queen Anne architecture. Built in 1894, the home has original woodwork, fixtures and leaded and stained glass windows. It is located at 376 Idaho Ave. SE. For more information, please call (605) 352-2528.

Dakotaland Museum
A collection of more than 5,000 artifacts, historical documents, photographs, maps and newspapers display the Spirit of Dakota heritage that lives in Huron and the surrounding area. Open everyday, Memorial Day to Labor Day - Monday thru Friday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Heartland Shooting Complex
Trap shooting, tournaments, special events, league shooting, open to public on Mondays and Wednesdays. For more information, please call (605) 352-1300.

Golf For Fun
Located on Ravine Lake, Golf For Fun offers a fun and exciting 18-hole miniature golf course. Many obstacles and obstructions are in place to challenge even the most skilled or non-skilled golfer. For more information, please call (605) 352-1400 or (800) 933-6626.

Huron Country Club Golf Course
Located north of town on Hwy 37, this course offers a scenic and challenging nine-hole course. The club awaits golfers of all skill levels. The public is welcome. The club is located at 22nd St. NW. For more information, please call (605) 352-3354.

Memorial Park Golf Course
Located next to Memorial Park and Memorial Park Campground, it is an excellent course to get a quick game in. The course is a nine-hole, par 3 executive course along the James River. For more information, please call (605) 352-9629.

Nordby Center for Recreation
The Nordby Center for Recreation is a premier recreational facility that is open year round, seven days a week. Housed inside is a track, pool, weight room, tennis, basketball, volleyball and racquetball courts. The center is open to both members and non-members.
